What are examples of leadership skills in school that colleges look for?

Can you answer C M’s question about Leadership Development?:

I’m starting to think about colleges..and I know colleges like good leadership skills. What are some good examples of this in school? Does this mean like student body president? Or can it be something smaller?

Leadership Development Feedback: Any (ANY) “official position” looks good. Become the treasurer of some random club or something - it’s easy, hopefully you learn something about leadership, and you can use it to write about in your essays. Or, you can start your own club.

Or you can be the student body president, lead of a school play, etc - but that’s so much work, and you may not like it.

Note that, whatever you get involved in, you have to stay committed to it for a while (or else it looks like you’re just trying to look “resume-good”)
